We may discuss some common dental problems
in this section.
Dental Emergencies Tooth ache- clean around the sore tooth as much as possible. Use warm salt water rinses to dislodge
any food that may be trapped between teeth. DO NOT APPLY ASPRIN DIRECTLY TO THE TOOTH OR GUM! In the event of swelling, apply
alternating heat and cold packs to the area. For pain relief, take Motrin, Aleve or any other product containing Ibprophin.
Ibprophin contains anti-inflamitories and will help relieve pressure form swelling. Cuts or bites to the cheek, lip or gum-
ice may be applied to the area. For bleeding, apply firm, but gentle pressure to the area with a clean cloth. If the bleeding
does not stop after 15 minutes, proceed to the emergency room. Broken tooth- rinse the area well with warm water. Put a cold
compress over the area of the injury. Recover any broken tooth fragments and get immediate attention. Knocked out permanent
tooth- recover the tooth, be sure to hold the tooth by the crown area (area that is NOT the root). If it is possible, place
the tooth back in the socket and hold it in place with a clean cloth. If reinserting the tooth into the socket is not possible,
rinse, but do not clean or handle the tooth any more then necessary. Place the tooth in a cp of water or milk to keep it hydrated.
Time is essential, see a dentist immediately.
